No matter how big we grow, we never lose touch with what’s important to the people who depend on our local operations. We pride ourselves on “drinking the local wine” and involve ourselves in our local communities in many ways.

McCain and the community

McCain plants in Australia and New Zealand are located in rural communities in prime potato and vegetable crop growing areas. These communities are therefore central to our operations and we actively support local fund raising activities and charities. McCain is a major supporter of United Way and many of its employees also donate to this charity (via payroll deduction).  McCain regularly donates food products to needy organisations such as the Salvation Army, Uniting Care, Anglicare and various Foodbank stations.   In additional to local community support, McCain and its employees have fund raising activities for such things as the Cancer Council fund raising days.

We depend on the goodwill of our communities, recruit our employees from them wherever possible, and supply our products to them. By supporting associations and charities at both local and national level, helping to address the issues surrounding healthy diet and lifestyle and by consulting and actively engaging with our communities on issues relating to our operations affecting them, we strive to build meaningful and lasting relationships.

We recognise our responsibility as a key member of the communities in which we operate and will consult with local stakeholders on local issues wherever possible. This includes engaging with community stakeholders on environmental issues and to minimise any potential noise or odour emissions from our plant.
